Gill Sotu is a Navy veteran, emcee, poet, playwright, DJ, and performing artist. You will always find him on a mic or in front of an audience or classroom. He is a 2x Grand Slam Poetry Champion, 2x Raw Performing Artist of the Year, and 5x TEDx San Diego presenter.
He has hosted, performed for, and/or hosted events for the San Diego Symphony, House Of Blues, Opera America, San Diego Opera, Geico, United Way, Feeding America, and numerous other organizations. He has hosted everything from underground clubs to major festival stages, as well as large corporate events and weddings.
Currently, he is a teaching artist and a commissioned playwright with The Old Globe Theatre & La Jolla Playhouse, and the official Poet in Residence for the San Diego Writers Festival. He has over 10 years of experience teaching written and performing arts within the penal system, working directly with incarcerated persons & in recovery settings, as well as with veterans and students from junior high to college.
